Known only from the type locality, where it co-occurs, although in a different ecological niche, with B. aurantiitheca (see Remarks under B. aurantiitheca). (CATE Araceae)
Bucephalandra chimaera occurs on granite boulders along small streams under perhumid lowland forest at c. 90 m above sea level. (CATE Araceae)
